-March 8th- Art Detour! @ Conspire, 10:00 am to ?

-March 9th- Art Detour! @ The Great Arizona puppet Theater, 3rd Ave and Latham, also in downtown Phoenix, 10:am to ? http://azpuppets.org/

-April 4th- First Friday @ Conspire

Hopefully we will be able to continue to show/sell our art in the downtown area. There are some changes taking place regarding licensing that I will discuss in a separate post.

Tucson Bead Show 2008

I only spent one day in Tucson at the bead shows this year. My 12 year-old, Ryan, went with me for the day. I didn't spend as much money as I usually do, either! :) I really just look for things that really call out to me and that I can't find locally. Here is a picture of my stash.
I also picked up a Kumihimo(Japanese braiding) Disk and some random wire from the Parawire company. (BTW-Parawire offers square wire,in case you're looking for non-Sterling square wire!)
Ryan is chomping at the bit, wanting to learn how to make chainmaille. This isn't a skill that I have so I can't teach him. :) He met a very nice girl named Spider who gave him a lot of good advice and got him set up with a kit and DVD to start learning.
All-in-all, it was a lovely day, and I have many new goodies to put to use.
(And, when Ryan masters chainmaille, I may have a business partner!)

February Group Challenge

The Crafty Burritos have started a monthly challenge. A theme will be picked, and each member is to create something based on that theme. Everything is up to interpretation on the artist's behalf. February's theme was Chinese New Year. I went with........fireworks! This bracelet is unlike anything I've created in the past. One of my favorite things is that the pieces move and shift, so the overall look of the piece changes. This is available in my Etsy shop: http://www.grabbinghands.etsy.com/

EDITED to add: This piece sold in less than 24 hours after I listed it! Yay!
